Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I best clean my new glasses and make them last as long as possible?

Please refer to our clean and care guide.

We recommended avoiding using sunscreen around the eye-wear, as it will damage the frame and eyecup. Additionally, please do not leave eye-wear in direct sunlight or in a hot car, as this will also create damage that will void the warranty.

When cleaning the lenses please do not use a lens cleaner that has alcohol or is an alcohol based solution, as it will damage the antifog coating.

Q: How do I remove the detachable eye-cup/insert without damaging it?

Please see this video for instructions.

Q: How can I be sure if the eyecup/insert fits on my face and around my eyes?

It is very important to find the best seal around your eyes, with the least gap possible, because the better the seal, the better it'll protect your eyes. You may submit a photograph of your face to us to give you a few suggestions.

Q: Which 7Eye by Panoptx models accommodate prescription lenses?

Q: What is the difference between 7eye and Ziena glasses?

7Eye glasses have foam behind the frame and look more like everyday sunglasses. Most 7Eye frames are Z87.1 safety rated glasses so are sturdier. Ziena Dry Eye glasses have a silicone eye cup behind the frame and look more like an optical frame that you can wear for both indoor and outdoor use.

If you play sports, 7eye is recommended. If you have dry eyes, whatever frame seals around the eyes the best is the best choice.

Q: Are 7Eye Products BPA-Free?

The answer is no. Any Polycarbonate-made material would have BPA in it. It acts as a solidifying agent so that the plastic doesn't stay too soft. This is present in any polycarbonate lenses in our products.
BPA is used in most plastics and food can lining. It may affect female reproductive system, if ingested in large quantities.

Q: What does impact resistant mean?

Impact resistance means that particular style passed the high mass impact resistance test. This test consists of a 500 gram pointed metal projectile being dropped on the lenses from about 4 feet above. The eyewear must remain intact, with no frame or lens pieces detaching. Upon impact, in an accident for example, inferior lenses will shatter into many pieces which increases likelihood of piercing the eyes. All lenses by 7eye by Panoptx are impact resistant, decreasing the likelihood of damaging the eyes in the event of impact.

Q: Where is the product made?

7eye by Panoptx products are assembled at the 7eye headquarters, located in Ontario, California with global materials. Our products are highly customisable - each order is made to order and not mass produced.

Q: I purchased a pair of 7Eye glasses and they do not fit. How do I go about returning them for a store credit and trying another pair?

Before you send the glasses back, please have someone take pictures of you wearing the product. Take pictures of top of the frame, the front view, and below the frame where we can see the foam sealing around your face and see where the gaps are.

Q: Does the UV protection increase as the photochromic transitioning lens get darker?

Regardless of lens colour or darkness, all our lenses, including clear lenses, have 100% UVA+UVB protection. We shouldn't be complacent thinking 100% UV is all you need. Bright light that has UV filtered can still hurt your eyes. For outdoors, we recommend a dark tinted lens, especially with polarisation, in order to reduce glare.
